yearDescriptionFrontier Group seeks a policy analyst to join our
team delivering timely research and analysis that is accessible to
the public on environmental and consumer problems and solutions. We
are looking for a talented writer who is also willing to work with
complex data, and who is able to derive insights from diverse
fields of knowledge to arrive at new ideas for solving pressing
problems.Key ResponsibilitiesFrontier Group policy analysts distill
complex data into clear, powerful conclusions that are easy to
communicate to decision-makers and the public. This position
requires exercising discretion and independent judgment in making
decisions in matters of significance. Responsibilities may include
but are not limited to:
- Review and draw conclusions from recent research in
environmental science, public health, economics, and other
fields.
- Do quantitative analysis of existing data sets and sometimes
collect original data through interviews, surveys and collaboration
with academic researchers.
- Write clear, concise, message-driven reports.
- Produce op-eds, social media, fact sheets and other
communications to disseminate the results of our research.
- Evaluate policy alternatives and work with advocates on the
ground to develop policy principles and proposals.
- Take part in organization-building activities including
recruitment, fundraising and staff training.Skills, Knowledge and
ExpertiseCandidates must have:
- at least two years of full-time experience in public interest
advocacy, journalism, or policy analysis and development, OR
- an advanced degree in a relevant field plus some experience in
public interest advocacy, journalism, or policy analysis and
development.The ideal candidate has:
- Skills and creativity to distill complex data into clear,
powerful conclusions that are easy to communicate to
decision-makers and the public.
- Experience with designing analytical approaches, applying core
statistical concepts and translating scientific information for a
lay audience.
- Experience with modeling, geospatial analysis, database design,
and/or the development of on-line and mobile database tools is a
strong plus.We evaluate candidates based on:
- writing ability,
- experience in political or public interest work,
- academic record,
- reasoning and research skills,
- ability to pick up new topics quickly,
- ability to function well under deadlines, and
- demonstrated leadership and the ability to work well as part of
a team.BenefitsCompensation and BenefitsThe starting annual
compensation range for someone with 2-5 years of relevant
experience is $33,000-40,000. Candidates on the lower end of
directly relevant experience should expect to be on the lower end
of this range; candidates on the higher end of relevant experience
are likely to be on the higher end of this range. Frontier Group
